Welcome to the Riverbend Web site, your window to one of

the Southeast's most beautiful active adult communities

Situated in a Maritime Forrest of Oaks, Hickory, Pines and Maples along the banks of the Historic Okatie River and its pristine marshes. Riverbend is a haven for Egrets, Heron, Osprey and many other aquatic birds. Azaleas, Camellias, Gardenias and Wisteria fragrant the air with scents of serenity and enjoyment and blooming Crape Myrtles paint the neighborhood with vibrant colors.

Beautiful Oaks along the

banks of the Okatie

The Okatie is abundant with shellfish, dolphin and many varieties of fish and it provides recreational activities such as fishing, shrimping, crabbing, boating and kayaking . Riverbend's lagoons also bustle with many species of wildlife including an occasional "Gator" and they provide "an old fishin hole" atmosphere, all of which are a delightful experience for grandchildren.

People from every region of the U.S. and several foreign countries have gathered in this enclave of beauty to forge a neighborhood of friends and to share many common interests. Riverbend has many community clubs and they consist of activities such as Golf, Tennis, Bocce, Cooking, Dancing, Sewing, Poker and its own chapter of The Red Hat Society.

Throughout the year Riverbend's neighborhood Social Committee schedules holiday events at the Riverbend Lodge as well as other social gatherings all of which are staged with the assistance of the residents. With a year round heated pool and hot tub, an outdoor barbeque area shaded by 100-year-old Oaks and Pine and a 300-foot pier and dock, gatherings are comfortable. The cooperative efforts of "Riverbenders" are a hallmark of this community.

Riverbend is the best kept secret regarding active adult communities in the United States. But that is beginning to change as more retirees are selecting Riverbend as the retirement community of choice. When completed, Riverbend will consist of about 300 homes dispersed throughout an area of approximately 234 wooded acres.

Our Web pages contain specific details about the activities in Riverbend, information about the community of Bluffton, S.C. and the surrounding towns of Hilton Head Island, Beaufort and the relaxed lifestyle of the Low Country of South Carolina, an experience to look forward to living each day!
